We Scored Big with the Priceline App Sophie, March 9, 2024April 3, 2024 My love for Priceline was renewed with our recent impromptu trip to Colorado. Neither of us had ever been to Colorado and we decided to take a short trip. The weather was favorable, and we started looking for airline tickets for the next day. At first, I was disappointed because tickets were in the 700ish range, and I knew that I didn’t want to spend that much. I kept searching and that’s when I stumbled on the Priceline site. Using Priceline I was able to find tickets for only $115 each. The only catch was that I allowed the site to choose my airline. After looking it over there were only three listed and I knew one didn’t fly out of our local airport. The good thing about this option was that you still had options to choose a seat or add luggage for an extra cost. The airline that we were assigned was American Airlines with one connection. Unlike some of the discount carriers that charge extra for luggage and drinks, American Airlines allowed a personal item and a carry on at no extra charge and we were served a drink and snack at no extra cost. The discount carriers did offer the advantage of a straight flight, but for the savings a connection was no problem at all. We flew into Denver, and I got a notice on my phone from Priceline asking if I needed a place to stay. I used the app and was able to get a discounted rate at Hampton Inn. After staying there a couple of nights, we decided to add a third night and when I approached the front desk, I was advised to book it through Priceline again because I would get a better rate. I did and saved another $10 on that night. Our visit to Denver was unseasonable warm for January, but it was great for the two that prefer warmer temperatures. All in all, it was a great visit with plenty to see and great weather. I’ll save our surprise return trip for another post. Now for the pros and cons Pros: Great price on flight. American Airlines- personal item, carry on, snack, and drink included in the $115 fare. Hampton Inn – great price of $89/night in a nice, safe area of Denver, continental breakfast included, great staff, clean rooms. Saw the Rockies for the first time. Cons: Absolutely no Cons Hotels Planes Uncategorized
